Investment tracker app: stocks, ETFs, crypto and CDs in one place, next to your budget
Investment tracker app for stocks, ETFs, crypto and CDs next to your budget, with prices that update on their own. Free for 3 investments.
AI Money is an investment tracker app: it brings your stocks, ETFs, crypto, funds, CDs, real estate and the cash you hold on each platform into one portfolio, and tells you what it is worth today and what you have really gained. The 250 largest cryptocurrencies update every hour, and more than 1,000 stocks, ETFs and funds from over 20 exchanges take each day’s closing price; a CD grows on its own at its rate until it matures. Because the same app tracks your spending, every contribution to a platform lowers your account balance as a transfer and not as an expense, so your budget still adds up. AI Money is not a broker: nothing is bought or sold in the app. You track 3 investments for free, and unlimited with the Elite plan.
What investments can you track in AI Money?
Eight asset types, the same ones you see when you tap “Add an investment” in the app. Each is valued in a different way, and the label tells you which:
- CryptoBitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoinsPrice every hour
- StockApple, Nvidia, TeslaDaily close
- ETFVOO, QQQ, VTIDaily close
- FundIndex and mutual fundsDaily close or your value
- CD or bondCDs, bonds, fixed-term depositsGrows at its rate
- Real estateA rental, a plot of land, a share in a propertyValue you set
- CashUninvested cash at the platformThe amount you hold
- OtherAnything else you ownValue you set
Everything on one platform stays together, and the same asset on two platforms shows up added together in a single row of your portfolio, with the detail of where each part sits. If a stock is not in the search list, you can type its ticker.
How do you track your investments in AI Money?
In five steps, and only the first takes more than a minute:
- Add your platforms. Pick yours from more than 170, such as Robinhood, Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, Coinbase or Interactive Brokers; if it is not on the list, you type its name. Each platform keeps the currency you give it.
- Add what you hold on each one. Search for the stock, ETF or coin by its name or ticker, or enter a CD with its rate and maturity date.
- Log every buy, sell or dividend. The app works out your average cost with fees included, the gain you have already realized and the dividends you have collected.
- Record your contributions from the account the money came from. That account balance goes down as a transfer, not as an expense, and if you converted currency the rate is saved.
- See what your portfolio is worth today. By platform, by asset type and in total, with what you put in and what you have gained right next to it.

Once that is done, the Investments screen shows your total balance, how your money is split by asset type and by platform, and a chart of how your portfolio has done over the last month, three months, year or since you started. You can search, sort by value, gain or name, and filter by type. It works on iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac.
How does each investment’s value get updated?
| Type | Where the value comes from | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Crypto | Market price of the 250 largest coins by market cap | Every hour |
| Stocks, ETFs and listed funds | Closing price on the exchange where they trade, in its currency | Once a day, after the close |
| CDs, bonds and fixed-term deposits | Your deposit plus interest at its rate, day by day | Every day, until maturity |
| Private funds, real estate and other | The value you enter | Whenever you update it |
| Cash at the platform | The amount you enter | When it changes |
250 cryptocurrencies priced every hour and more than 1,000 stocks, ETFs and funds at each day’s close, such as VOO, Apple, Shopify or the iShares Core MSCI World ETF. Automatic prices are free on every plan.
That way you know what your portfolio is worth every day without looking up prices. If an investment’s last market price is more than 48 hours old, the app flags it in its detail. If an investment has a price only your platform knows, like a private fund unit, you enter its value and update it when your statement arrives.
How do you see the real return on your portfolio?
The gain on each investment is what it is worth today minus what it cost you. On every buy, the app adds up what you paid, fees included, and works out your average cost; when you sell, the difference is booked as a realized gain, and dividends are recorded separately. If you did not record what you paid for something, that gain shows as unknown instead of a made-up zero.
For the full year the math is different, because what you put in and take out moves too: what you have today, minus what you had at the start of the year, minus what you contributed, plus what you withdrew. If you began January with $20,000, added $6,000, withdrew $1,000 and your portfolio is worth $26,750 today, you gained $1,750, not $6,750. The app shows it that way in each platform’s “By year” section: what you had, contributed, withdrew, have and gained.
Why track your spending and your investments in the same app?
Because investing is not spending: the money is still yours, it just moved. When you record that you moved $500 from your checking account to your brokerage account, the app makes a transfer: your checking balance drops by $500, that money does not show up among the month’s expenses, and your budget still adds up on the day you invest. If you delete the contribution, the money goes back to its account.
If you invest in another currency, the contribution keeps how much left in one currency and how much arrived in the other, and the app works out your average exchange rate next to today’s. Among your expenses from the last 90 days, the app spots the ones that look like contributions to one of your platforms and asks you whether they are; once you confirm one, the next alerts from your bank for that platform are logged as contributions.
With everything in one place, the Net worth card you can add to your home screen adds up your balance, your savings and your investments, which makes AI Money work as a net worth tracker app as well as a budget app.
How do you set an investment goal?
With the app’s investment goal, which answers two questions: how much you want to have and by when, or how much you would have if you invest for a number of years. You choose the yearly growth you expect, and the projection uses annual compound interest, the same math as our compound interest calculator and the SEC’s Investor.gov calculator. You add a contribution schedule (platform, day and amount) and the app reminds you of each one. The goal and its reminders are free on every plan.
Does it work as a crypto portfolio tracker?
Yes. You search for the coin by name among the 250 largest by market cap, enter how many you hold and on which platform (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance or the wallet you use), and its price in dollars updates every hour. With every buy the app works out your average cost, so you see the gain on each coin and on your whole crypto portfolio, next to your stocks and your CDs.
How do you track investments in each country?
Account types change name and rules from country to country, but they all fit the same eight asset types. A tax-advantaged account is simply a platform with its own name. This is how the most common ones are tracked:
| Country | What people hold most | How you track it in AI Money |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 401(k), IRA, brokerage accounts, CDs, crypto | Each account as a platform (for example “Fidelity 401(k)”); index funds, ETFs and stocks at the daily close; the CD with its APY |
| United Kingdom | Stocks and Shares ISA, SIPP, fixed-rate savings | The ISA as a platform; LSE shares and ETFs such as VWRL or CSPX at the daily close; the fixed-rate bond with its rate |
| Canada | TFSA, RRSP, GICs, ETFs | Each account as a platform at Wealthsimple or Questrade; TSX ETFs such as XIU or VFV at the daily close; the GIC with its rate |
| India | Fixed deposits, mutual funds, NSE stocks | The FD with its rate; Reliance or Infosys at the daily close; the mutual fund with its NAV |
| Australia | Super, ASX shares and ETFs, term deposits | ASX shares and ETFs at the daily close; the term deposit with its rate; super as a platform with its value |
Platforms such as Robinhood, Fidelity, Charles Schwab, Vanguard, Hargreaves Lansdown, Trading 212, Wealthsimple, Zerodha, CommSec or Coinbase are already on the list by name, and the prices of the stocks, ETFs and crypto you hold there arrive on their own.
How is it different from a spreadsheet or your broker’s app?
It brings together what the other two leave apart. A spreadsheet handles any investment but you maintain it; your broker’s app has the exact price but only for what is held at that broker. This is how each one handles what matters most:
| What you need | Spreadsheet | Your broker’s app | AI Money |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price of each asset | You copy it in | Live, for what you hold there | Crypto every hour; stocks and ETFs at the daily close |
| Several platforms together | The ones you add up | Only its own | All of them in one portfolio |
| CDs, private funds and real estate | With your formulas | What that broker sells | CDs at their rate; funds and real estate at your value |
| Real return with contributions | With your formulas | Depends on the broker | By year and by platform |
| Your spending and your budget | In another sheet | Not covered | In the same app |
| Cost | Free | Free with your account | Free for 3 investments; Elite unlimited |
So you do not start from scratch, you import your contributions from a CSV or Excel file, and you export them in the same formats whenever you want. The import runs on your phone and running it twice does not duplicate anything.
What happens to your investment data?
What you record stays on your phone, and in your backups if you make them. To fetch prices, the app sends AI Money’s servers the tickers of the stocks and ETFs you hold, linked to your account; crypto prices are downloaded the same way for everyone, so we do not know which coins you own. Company logos are requested from icon services, which receive each company’s web address. If you ask Denis, the app’s AI assistant, about your investments, a summary of them goes with your question so the answer can use your own numbers.
How much does the AI Money investment tracker cost?
| Free | Pro | Elite | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Investments tracked | 3 | 3 | Unlimited |
| Contributions | 3 | 3 | Unlimited |
| Automatic prices for crypto, stocks and ETFs | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Platforms, buys, sells and dividends | Yes | Yes | Yes |

The rest of the app, with your accounts, budgets, savings and debts, works the same on the free plan. What Elite adds for investments is removing the limit: if you hold more than three assets or contribute every month, it is the plan for you. If you ever leave Elite, you keep everything you recorded.
Frequently asked questions about the investment tracker
An investment tracker. AI Money records and values what you already hold at your bank, broker or crypto exchange, which is where you keep buying and selling, and shows you how much you have, where it is and how much you have gained. It is not a broker: nothing is bought or sold in the app, your money stays where it is, and the app does not tell you what to buy.
Yes. AI Money tracks 3 investments and 3 contributions for free, with automatic prices included, on the free and Pro plans. Elite removes the limit. Buys, sells and dividends on what you already hold, and withdrawals, do not count toward it, and the same asset on two platforms counts as one investment.
The 250 largest cryptocurrencies are updated every hour. Stocks, ETFs and exchange-traded funds use each day’s closing price. A CD or a bond grows every day at its rate, and private funds or real estate are worth the value you enter.
Yes, and you do not need to share any password. You add your holdings with a search for stocks, ETFs and crypto, and the app keeps their prices up to date on its own, so you never type a price by hand.
Take your contributions out of it: what you have today, minus what you had at the start, minus what you put in, plus what you took out. If you began the year with $20,000, added $6,000, withdrew $1,000 and hold $26,750 today, you gained $1,750, not $6,750. AI Money does that math by year and by platform.
In AI Money you enter the CD with its amount, its rate (APY, a nominal annual rate or a monthly rate), the date you opened it and its maturity date, and the app values it day by day until it matures. A $10,000 CD at 4.5% APY is worth $10,450 after one year, before taxes.
Yes. The investment tracker is part of AI Money on iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, together with your accounts, budgets, savings and debts. Your portfolio is stored on your device and goes into your backups if you make them.
